If only I could reach the top shelf of my life
I would take out a folder with my life events
I would unfold and see the years that were lost
'Cause I lost so many years doing nothing
If only I could reach the top shelf of my life
I would fill in all the blank spaces,
Blank spaces of lost time
Time was lost in procrastination
If only I could reach the top shelf of my life
I would unlock every door of opportunity
Opportunities flew by
I had the master key but I did not act
If only I could reach the top shelf of my life
I would swallow back every word that came out of my mouth
And caused other people to hurt
These are the cries of a dying man
Now on my deathbed I only wish
There is nothing I can do
Except call on the Lord
And ask Him to forgive me
And come into my life
So that I die a peaceful death

Every word? Surely there were some that you'd want to keep. Perhaps the words of this poem? I too wrote an - If Only - please read and comment. Adeline
