If Only, If Only Poem by Leanna Page Markgraf

If Only, If Only

If only things were different
if only they were fair,
we would not feel alone
and like no body cared.

I have nightmares every night
its becoming a routine.
Some times I cannot breathe
other times I scream.

I need to be near you
instead of so far apart.
Each day without you
is like a knife through the heart.

Come and rescue me
from the horrible hell.
Do you think I can survive this?
I guess only time will tell.

If only, if only
I would have done more to make you stay.
We could have been something
but I just watched you walk away.
