If We All Were Alike Poem by Francis Duggan

If We All Were Alike

A rose by any other name 'tis said would be a rose
But then a weed to some is a flower to others I suppose
Each of us sees things very differently
But if we all thought alike how boring life would be.

If we all were alike and on all things did agree
We would grow very bored of harmony
On a given subject each has their own point of view
Yet to one's self one always should be true.

Allow for laughter in your life for laughter's a great gift
As it gives the sagging spirits a huge lift
And do not take yourself too seriously
Or you could become a boring one like me.

To some a rose would be a rose by any other name
And to others a weed and a flower are one and of the same
'Tis our individuality makes us interesting so they say
And we all look at life in a very different way.
