Imprisoned Poem by Nik Houghton

Imprisoned

I thought liking you would come between us
Our meaningful friendship mattered to both of us
You've captured my weakness entirely
Yet you remained modest and subtle

Vaguely did I notice your genuine feelings
I had no intention to steal your heart away
But you offered full permission to your possession
Now, I yield and love you so

An intimate emotion we share
A forceful flame beaming before us
Expectations longing for actions
The events so perfect and galore

Never would I've imagined this
Nor would I've wished for it
The joy pervading my entity
Would imprison me so profoundly
