In Cook County Jail Poem by Michael Pruchnicki

In Cook County Jail

Rating: 0.5

one Monday morning high on the gallows green
a young lad took a walk into eternity
blessed by the likes of the governor
the mayor and the state's attorney
and the cardinal who lived with a priest
in an apartment the size of a cathedral
overlooking Lake Shore Drive
and Lake Michigan

God rest you
may God be with you!
