In Good Military Order Poem by Michael Pruchnicki

In Good Military Order

You may have thought
that all we had to do as soldiers
was fall out in good military order
and march in cadence
like columns of insects
toward the faceless foe

You may well think that
as you stand here now
gazing out over rows
of stone markers
in good military order
from sea to shining sea
