In Kabul Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

In Kabul

I was there
Sat by the grave
History like a mare
Galloped and Taliban
Couldn’t see; were blind.

Stones black
Note displaced
Lambs grazed nearby
Classes empty, sadly dark
The learning was free if dogma

Seyed who led revolt
Controlled, killed the shah
Died elsewhere; bones brought

University
Dead, shut down; no learning
Life’s a Fight
On side of Taliban

I cried deep in heart
Divided
On birthplace
Fault and Right

Now I read
He too was enlisted
‘A puppet’

What a world!

Seyed Jamal
The reverend
Reviver of Islam
Were you too...?
‘A Mason’
‘Secretive Free Mason’
