There is something about the way it falls through
surrounds and consumes
There is no warning tick
Only the stroke as it strikes
And here we are watching what happens
when you dare to look twice

There she sits, so inticing
a smile so inviting
You'd never guess what she was thinking
But it is clear that she is waiting

It is the shadows cast by the candlelight
A breath between string and strum
The moment you don't hear
at the end of every song

He watches her intently
as if to reason her company
She touches him sweetly
Breathes him in deeply
Still he doesn't know she's reaching

The smell before the rain
The warm before the snow
The silence before the song
The clench before the fall

She dares him with a thought
Each movment more fluid than the last
But he doesn't see her
Won't believe in anything but the cost

The dance goes on
Each step they fall
Fighting for what's already gone
Every glance they toss
the deeper they are bound and lost
