My guitar strings are quiet
my vocal chords retired
for a night of empty riot
in a space where I can try it
even though
I'm trying to defy it
I don't really want to buy it
this emptiness and quiet
where you wait for me to think

I'm only human only man
and I will and if I can
I will cry for you
forever and always
there is so much empty space
where I can look
but cannot trace
a single hair from you
or find a hand to hold

There isn't anyone around
that can make your lovely sound
no one like you no one for me
not a chance
I know I'll look for you forever
because I want us both together
just for one last hold
and one last devastating dance

My guitar strings are ringing
my voice resumes it's singing
of nights we loved and lived
in moons full beam
once again you fill my thoughts
my dreams sail to their empty ports
as i remember
all those things we've been

I am all alone your love has flown
my days are harsh and follow stars
into another night of disbelieving
that you've gone
all that's left for me seems wrong
but my soul just carries on
i can only talk to you
in music and a song.
