In Tehran Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

In Tehran

In Tehran

The whorehouse in Tehran
-was school
-for men and, mostly youths.

Lesson was: "Prostitute! "

There were books of novel
-as well as fairy-tales
-to Scheherazade
-and women
-who tricked to escape
-forceful rape.

Everywhere, in each book
-like "Thousand and One Night"
-and Koran of Iran
- (Shahnameh)
-to Rostam, Arsalan
-to Shirin and Farhad
-everywhere hid a rape
-of some kind…

Shahr-e-Now (or whore-house)
-was only other one…

"Why women end here? "

This became the topic
-added to rest of things…

Were many who like me
-wanted to write something
-about these poor women
-whose job was selling the
-most hidden, private
-parts of theirs…
-their bodies…

Now place is dead, gone
-instead are shrubs
-everywhere in the town.
