In The Ancient Net Poem by Haruna Garba

In The Ancient Net

Long have you been amidst the tide
The current has'd you centuries long
You'een had where the current rules
Helpless you remain in its tight grip
No wriggles will do you real free
The ship-wreckers know no sleep
Ready they're for a vessel's launch
Titanic of all liners hadn't made it
Let the like or the better emerge
Submerged sure it's bound to be

As fresh babies drop everyday
Pathogens laugh their heads off
The new arrivals are sand blind
With immune systems quite rigged
Rigged with fear of domination
What with, you'll never have peace
And without it, the aces they do hold
But the blind folk will never mind
Their mad fear takes the first place
Should they but be in similar place
As done they're certain to have done
Time for other side to worry about

So programmed is how you are
Trapped you are in an ancient net
Forever shall you roll in a whirlwind
Their agents held as your heroes
They've you minors in that enterprise
And gaining the commercial wheel
You remain the underlings that you're
And even at that, when they get drunk
They fall out of favor with the crown
And so the cycle sadly repeats itself
