In The Dark Poem by Robert Kallend

In The Dark

Can you keep up with this melodic pace,
The one that’s etched upon ecstatic face.
Moving to the beat of the pulsing drum,
Soundless noise, behind the blackened hum.

Depths of despair, follow your heart inside,
Taking away that notion of growing pride.
Smile bright with genuine pleasure,
The answer you seek, the ultimate treasure.

As you Sit alone upon black tiled floor,
Hoping for mummy to walk through the door,
The noise gets louder and faster in your ear,
Breaking your eardrum like an African spear.

You writhe out in agony but to no avail,
Knowing nothing can be done but flail.
Blood starts to trickle from turquoise blue eye.
Looking like tears that you wish you could cry.

When will it go the, constant pounding,
The pain so instant, deadly in sounding.
So close to happiness, now disconnected mid call
Brings to question, is there ever a god at all?
