Along a river walked
Along a hill path walked
Hakka folk songs, trekking in the wind and rain all the way
Chose a hillside dwelling
Chose a plain settling
Also on the waves of old years, travelled across many seas
One side of water and soil stopped to
Like a tree deeply root
Regardless of poor or fecund soil
Lives, always are flowers in full bloom

Homeland in the missing rain
Homeland in the local accent's soft
In the wind Hakka folk songs
Often brought memories of wandering
With no fixed abode those days
Like floating duckweed those lives
Are Hakka folk song after song
Loud and clear in the distance always
Like fire, igniting the faith
Like the tide, surging in deep of the heart always

So many years, found in the luggage always
Hammered into an iron nail
How could not pull it out, often calmed down
It hurt my heart softly pain
Climbed mountains, waded across the water, did not dare to forget

To where all can not forget Hakka dialect oh

顺着一条河流走
顺着一条山道走
客家山歌，一路风雨兼程
选一处山坡栖居
择一处平川落户
也在旧年的涛声中，远涉重洋
有一方水土就停下脚步
像一棵树深深地扎下了根
不管土壤贫瘠肥沃
生命，永远是怒放的花朵

故土在思念的雨中
故土在乡音的柔美中
风中的客家山歌
常带来记忆里的飘泊
那些居无定所的日子
那些浮萍一样漂荡的生活
是一首首客家山歌
始终嘹亮在远方
像火，点燃着信念
像海潮，始终澎湃在心灵深处

这么多年了，总发现在行囊中
锲入着一枚铁钉子
怎么也拔不出来，每每静下来
就磕得心头柔柔地疼
爬过山，涉过水，未敢忘
我知道，那枚钉子叫乡愁
到哪里都忘不了客家话呵
只要唱歌就唱客家山歌

现在，客家女孩在唱客家山歌
好甜啊，她在歌里，掺了太多的阳光
蜂的蜜和鲜花的芬芳
现在，客家话，在团圆的歌声中
酿成了醇香的美酒
来，一起举杯吧，客家人
来，一起举杯吧，我们都是客家人
