In This Modern World Poem by Matthew Holloway

In This Modern World

Rating: 5.0

This modern word
Offended by intelligence
Afraid of reasoned debate
The quick fire, instant facts
That all too often prove worthless
Modern soldiers line up
Behind their keyboards
Ready to battle faceless
Caps face hatred gunned out
Against colour, faith, sexuality
Against sex, class, free speech
Against those opposing beliefs
Which do not fit into the retinue
Faceless cowards punching keys
This modern world
Where it's easier to hate
To mock those who try
To attack and ignore
Those creators, artists
Those trying to make something
Better, kinder, more beautiful
Money always talks loudest
Money buys media and followers
Money draws the keyboard soldiers
Who battle it out in this place
In this modern world

An incisive write. So very true.
