In Today’s World Poem by Dr John Celes

In Today’s World

School-children’s satchels are turning heavy;
Most youngsters’ brains are wearied and empty.
Most parents don’t find time to spare for own;
Most families are living on ‘big loans’!

Relatives talk to strangers more than kin;
Commuters ply through lanes of dust and din;
Most cities have crowds jostling through their streets;
Adulterated are foods, drinks and eats.

The tax-payer’s money is frittered fast;
World’s politicians speak the biggest lies;
Great leaders waste huge sums on futile wars;
All cemeteries are crowded with their dead.

One looks at next always with eyes of doubt;
Most speak one thing and do the opposite;
There is no real love amongst brethren;
There is no trust even between spouses!

The modern world is turning anti-God;
Such heinous crimes are done by men on earth;
Ethics in professions is on the wane;
Corruption drives the human race insane!
