Ingrid Poem by Francis Duggan

Ingrid

Though she has been one who has been through Earthly hell
Ingrid on her past never wishes to dwell
The worst life can give she is one who has met
And some things from her past she would rather forget

She met and fell in love with Andy when she was thirty three
He was thirty seven then dark haired handsome and carefree
Four years later she gave birth to their son his given name was John
who grew into a handsome dark haired young man many years since then gone

But luck in life it was not on young John's side
In a motor car accident at twenty one years of age he died
Their beautiful son a few years short of his prime
But with the love and support of Andy her grief subsided in time

Four years ago Andy of stomach cancer passed away
For Ingrid in her life another sorrowful day
She has lost the two best friends that she ever had
In life with the good days there is also the bad

Ingrid in her prime was a Rose of the town
Tall and beautiful with brown eyes and wavy hair of dark brown
Andy was always the love of her life
Until the day he died she remained his devoted wife

In her mid sixties her hair silver gray
The beautiful Ingrid is ageing today
Sadly for her growing old on her own
Of happier times in life she would have known
