Inspiration Poem by The Jester

Inspiration

The darkest moments of our lives
When hope itself goes black and dies
And life shrinks in around our throats
We choke on smoke and dust.
Grit out teeth and struggle hard
To stop the flood of tears inside
The limping swan-song of our pride
In misery, we rust.
At night, when reason leaves behind
Hard shards of fantasy, we find
Shadows laugh and snarl as one
We stumble blindly in despair
Where once was warm and full of light
In an instant, turns to fright
Terror burning, terror bright
We feel our courage tear.
But through the constant doubt and pain
That hails upon our hearts like rain
We fall so we can learn just how
To pick ourselves back up again.
