I sing
The sad song
Of Alexandria
A foolish youth
Who gave her heart
From the start
To a maiden
As fair as the moon
And just as dark
As medusa's blood
Though through the months
Her name changes
Alexandria remains
As Alexander before her
Privy is the tale
Of transgender affairs
Depending on their state
Through spring
Her maiden is no more
Than Queen Persephone
Alexandria is Selene
The moon guiding
Her gypsy home
A Red kind of Queen
Uncertain and passionate
In her uncertainty
Awaiting Alexandria's form
In the garden of roses
They planted together
Lifetimes before
Roses as deadly
As landmines
Gentle words
That take over the mind
As unsuspecting
As our foolish youth
Eternally in bloom
Like Adonis
For her Aphrodite
And as their summer ends
Alexandria becomes Alexander
With failing attempts
Of greatness
To win a Queen
Who always seems
Just out of reach
Persephone remains
As always she was
Darling to the world
Tempting unsuspecting souls
And Alexander
Becomes Hades
Throughout December
Cruel and mean
Over yet again
Forcing his Queen
To remain
Through through this transitions
He retains some
Of his previous womanly ways
Never allowing Persephone
To forget her transgressions
Against his foolish nature
Of loving her so greatly
And her resounding betrayal
Of never loving him enough
Through his depression
So they live
These poor fools
Who forever hold each other
Yet never close enough
Sharing one soul
Throughout too many lifetimes
And so many more
They have yet to live
Where it so simple
To chalk their tale
Up to simple fate
But five lifetimes later
The Fates themselves
Weave their life strands
Together still
And now
My gentle listeners
My unsuspecting Queen
The beginning of their tale
Starts
