Iranian Amanda Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Iranian Amanda

Iranian Amanda

Papers wrote
All TVs, media were full of
Victim, Todd, Amanda.

The pictures went around
She had sex with one boy
Friends shared on mobile.

“That is it…”
She said, thought
Life taken, she is gone.

This time is in Iran
City of flowers and poets
In Shiraz.

She too, died and is gone
With petrol, and self-burn
A victim of bullies and sex-text.

But is not Canadian
And is not a western
Forgotten, is ignored.
