Is There Hope Left? Poem by Ray Hansell

Is There Hope Left?

I think we the people
Need to take a stand
Because most politicians
Have helped destroy this land

They are not promise keepers
You can't believe things they say
They'll tell us what we want to hear
Lying from day to day

In an election year it's worse
As they speak from both sides of their mouth
They'll even emphasize it
Now and then with a shout

The only time they care about us
Is when it's time to vote
But they are the one's who have destroyed
Any and all hope

They've forgotten the downtrodden
Or others who are in need
The're only concerned with one thing
That one thing is greed

I pay them no attention
I don't need to hear fairy tales
I think that most belong
Behind bars in a jail
