It’s By Our Fruit Poem by Michael P. Johnson

It’s By Our Fruit

The bible’s not designed to kill
God sent His word to save!
But murder creeps in churches still
When some in discord rave

God sees the branches of the tree
The putrid crop of sin
Yet oh how sweet the fruit can be
When Jesus dwells within

Once grafted into David’s Root
When Christ has pruned us clean
We’ll bear The Gardener awesome fruit
He’ll be so pleased to glean

If peace and joy are part of you
If love, your life can guide?
If patience, fellow man can view
God’s Flame burns bright inside

When true repentance song we sing
When love’s our planted seed
Salvation comes on eagle’s wing
To burn satanic weed

Then wholesome fruit to God we bear
Then grace we understand
There’ll be no need to nurse despair
Through faith in Jesus’ hand

Unlike the dogs that vomit crave
We’ll close to filth our eyes
Once wayward flesh has met the grave
Once disobedience dies

Resplendent fruit To God we’ll give
Abiding in The Vine
Eternally in Christ we’ll live
Drinking the victor’s wine.
