It Started Out So Nicely Poem by Dean Meredith

It Started Out So Nicely

Make it our soundtrack
And play it loud

In Russian, in German
In English

We smuggle each other down
In and over and in

Through borders
Man-made walls

Develop your mind
And you can go through them

Those walls of our minds
We are always free

Even in our darkest sorrows
Chills diminishing, in the shadows
