Itch To Travel Poem by Elizabeth Padillo Olesen

Itch To Travel

Now it is spring
but spring is interrupted
by freezing cold
in both evenings
and mornings.

I long for summer
after this cold spring
and the urge to travel
banks at the door.

Will the borders be opened?
Will Corona restrictions soon be over?
When will vaccination for all be reached
when Azra Zeneca and Johnson and Johnson
are delayed, denied and rejected
to be injected into the arms
of those who have long expected?

This waiting, this delaying,
this urge and itch to travel
during this summer
remains a lingering question.
