Jesus Christ Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ

In school we were taught:
-'Read poems, memorise, '

One of them, I recall
-was about Jesus Christ

By a dead he passed by,
-bit finger, wondered why
-his index between teeth:
-'Whom you killed to be killed? '

That poem was advice
-to people: 'Cause not harm.'

Therefore not as man of
-language and nation…
-but way of training
-to be kind, and wiser
-I love my language
-and culture upon it

Such poems, proverbs
-are many, in thousands,
-among books are Rumi's
-and Saadi's…too many

Had poem in my mind
-wanted to write about…
-by reading their past, now
-discovered and found out
-that people killed others
-later on were murdered
-endless the strings

Murderers soon or late
-face in bone the justice
-dead, alive, descendants

This warning I give to
-Saudis, Turks, Trump…
-'Do not fan the fire…'
