Joker's Wild Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Joker's Wild

I fell in love with my friend,
I told my heart in confidence,
But it didn't listen,
I loved her deeply, I explained to my heart,
Instead it began to beat faster,
Each thought of her grew,
I told my heart to listen, it began to speak instead,
Was I a victim of fear,
Was my heart cupid and she the target of it's bow,
Was I left all alone,
I grew ashamed of my thoughts,
As they couldn't hide themselves,
My heart began to beat louder,
Loud enough to be heard,
I saw her as the day, my heart saw her as the sun,
We became bitter enemies,
My heart and I,
A bittersweet symphony as the only time we spoke,
Was when her heart spoke first
