Three days without water....
He came to a pool
scooping a palmful
He saw the stars in it
cool and blinking
bright and twinkling
Eternity in his palms
He laughed piteously
brightened mirthlessly
So close to the limitless
He shivered hideously
And tumbled lifeless in a heap
Water splashed with a leap
Over his quiet, still face
The stars overhead
turned around in tireless
eternal motion...
