Judo is a gentle art, I'm told.
An art which trains the body and the mind,
Uplifts a man, and helps him live a bold
And fearless life, wherein the wise may find
A freedom from neurotic introspection.
There you will find us, building strength and will,
In glorious action striving for perfection.
Seeking ever to improve our skill.
Utsurigoshi countering Ogoshi.
Judogi spotless white, we fight to play,
Developing a wicked Taiotoshi,
And play to fight, to help us on THE WAY.
Yes, Judo is the Key, but, for my sins,
I find it very hard upon the shins.
H. St.Vincent Beechey.
