Julian Poem by Kris Whelan (1971)

Julian

Julian sits alone in his chair, a foreign boy that shouldn’t be here
Doesn’t say much he's the quieter type keeps to himself though he's young and he's ripe
Julian’s had some difficult nights, maybe not sure of his political rights
Pacing the halls just seems his way, hoping that someone will visit today
He may even be the military kind, whatever it is he keeps it inside
Doesn’t go much for my interaction, maybe been through a wartime reaction
Julian just who are you
Julian just what did you do
To end up in here in pyjamas all day
I’d like to know your story someday
But Julian sits alone in his chair, a foreign boy that shouldn’t be here
Pacing the halls just seems his way I’d like to know your story someday
He's hoping that someone will visit today
