if i were to talk about you julie
i would need a new vocabulary

just to catch what i feel of you
you knew how my words would

tumble like on the day we met
as we set ourselves a little further,

and we prayed to jesus together
who must have been looking at us

and how foolish we must have
looked then, but he wouldn’t mind.

after all, we were much like him
at that time - quite innocent.
