Just Look At Me Now! Poem by Tamara DanielCarter

Just Look At Me Now!

Just look at me now!

From wedding bells to eggshells
From soft words and smiles
To sadness and glares
To deceit and swollen faces.

You can no longer suffocate me
With your financial ties
You can no longer murder me
Just by using your eyes

Can't you see I'm taller now?
Standing straight up
You can no longer put me down
I can hold myself up

You can live your life punishing me
You can even die trying
You are a perfect man you say
It is only you lying
