Just Real Warmth Poem by Janine Alyssa Navarro

Just Real Warmth

I am far from the ocean
but knowing it keeps me away,
drowns my very dreams.

I am away from quick-sand
but it separates you and I,
difficulties make me sink deeper.

I am not soaked in the rain
but a deluge suffocates me
whenever distance is too evident.

I am clothed, fed and sheltered
but a void is present,
I’m a blank slate.

We talk, we share secrets
but it’s still not the same,
my silence, your silence…

I want to hear you breathe
feel the air gush out of you
as it enters me.

I just want to be next to you
no words, no pretending;
just real warmth.
