Kerala 12 - Boat Race - Vallam Kali
Let your heart race,
With the thrilling boat races
Of the God's own country,
A spectacular sport for Onam!
Let your heart sing,
With the melody of the boat song-
‘Vanchipattu' -Titi Tara Ti-ti-tai
Titai Taka Tai-tai tom!
Let your heart dance,
With hundred pairs of hands,
Paddling with extra ordinary rhythm,
Symmetrically, in perfect coordination!
Let your heart blossom,
With the enchanting backwaters of Kerala,
Racing to win, in the fabulous snake boats,
Rowing with jet speed, to reach the goal!
Let your heart rejoice,
Together with the people of Kerala,
A united venture, so exciting,
A collective effort, so rewarding!
I've seen this boat race on television on several occasions. It's an integral part of the Kerala's rich culture nurtured around it's back waters and proximity of nature.

The boat races are unique to kerala and part of our Onam celebrations. Beautifully painted by Geeta in words. Loved it.
