Kippah And Kufi Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Kippah And Kufi

Kippah and Kufi

His head was far ahead
Made him look like camel.

Passenger on sidewalk
Some others were inside.

His look mean, fearful
But funny, comedy, cheerful.

Light was red, cars in line
Unamused, looked to right.

He looked back, after while
Seemingly: “What you want? ”

Heard no word, his eyes talked
“You sure look Frankenstein…”

Flew and floated on my mind.
Turning head, looked forward.

Young man wore a kappa
Large white one, Taqiyah.

Memory of Hessam in Dubai:
“We, cousins, Jews, Arabs”

From then amused I, am between
Jewish Kippah and Kufi, of Arabs.
