Kisses Like Conquest Poem by Raj Dronamraju

Kisses Like Conquest

We are each other's greatest mystery
We invade neighboring countries
Your kisses decide the fate of nations

As much as we are besotted into focusing only on this moment, our moment
That's the touch that builds a wall between two entwined people and the outside world
There are colonies under control that are starting to rebel

Before you can say you were strong
Better get out of my mind and crawl back into the woodwork
The sheer size of the area you're claiming is well outside your grasp

I burnt the tip of my tongue on something hotter than what I was used to
But that's the whole pleasure/pain interchangeable arrangement
In love's hermetically sealed environment, I pay no mind to a bad omen

Now the world falls to different conquerors
But we are safe in the neutrality of stolen blankets and stolen kisses
The lips that practice aggressive diplomacy
