(dedicated to Francis Duggan)
thickset
arboreal
herbivore
marsupial
Phascolarctosc, pouch and bear
Cinereus, ash-coloured
gula, doesn't drink
English, tree-bear
lives on eucalypt leaves
sleeping most of that time
feeding occurs usually at night
eat eucalypts’ wide range leaves
large, the sharp claws
to assist with climbing tree trunks
five fingers are arranged with opposable thumbs
providing better gripping ability
fingerprints are similar to human fingerprints
first two fingers are positioned
in apposition on front paws
first three fingers for the hind paws
coastal regions of eastern
and southern Australia
from near Adelaide to
southern part of Cape York Peninsula
(inspired by Sergei Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf)
