Laid On The Line Poem by Mason Maestro

Laid On The Line

When prospective tomorrows settle for now
Directives for freezing and ask yourself how
When perspective on sorrows factors in a wow
Directives for pleasing and give it a bow

When putting it all in disorder just ain't enough
The tough gets on going and the going gets rough
And the things that you thought ain't what it ought
Ought ought to be when it ought naught be not

When it’s laid on the line and the stocks take a drop
It’s already drawn you in and the street’s strung you up
When it’s laid on the line and the socks’ been knocked off
It’s already drawn you in and the meat’s strung you up

When the who hits the what and where luck runs dry
You do what you can but you ask yourself why
Where the what hits the who and when the buck runs wild
You’ve laid it on the line and now this maid’s been defiled
