Late To School Poem by Shankaran Kutty

Late To School

One day I was late to school,
All the fault was mine.
I woke up late at 7`o’ clock,
I still thought it was fine.

“Wake up! wake up! ” my mother cried,
Its 6`o’ clock she said.
But I was feeling ever so sleepy,
And crawled back into bed.

We huffed and puffed and huffed and puffed,
To get to school on time.
“You’re always late! “, my father cried,
“Without a reason or rhyme”

My mother tried her very best,
And dad said he couldn’t wait
But it soon became very clear,
That we were already late.

“The class has started you are late”
So my teacher said,
But how could I tell her it was so
Because I couldn’t get out of bed

I looked at dad, his face was gruff
Not that my miss was pleasant
And that evening my dad got tough
To the punishment corner I was sent

My mom came next and gave a warning stern
'If ever there be a similar occasion
That for this your teacher we meet
You can forget any trip next vacation”.

Now I realize the wrong I have done
One should always keep time
I hugged my dad and sobbing, said
“Dad, I will never repeat this crime”

I am sorry and never will it
Happen ever again
I will be in school on time
In summer sun or rain
