Laying There With Those Eyes Of Yours Closed Poem by Jeri Martindale

Laying There With Those Eyes Of Yours Closed

Laying here in the bed beside me sleeping so silently.
So innocent you appear to me;
as you lay there with those eyes of your eyes closed,
I wonder what you dream.

We sat and laughed with each other tonight,
mostly you laughed at me.
So nice to smile instead of frown,
with you sitting beside me.

I'm thankful to have a friend like you;
one I can cuddle up with on nights like this.
One who will listen to these thoughts of mine,
now so peaceful at my side.

You asked if I would write tonight;
did you realized it'd be for you?
You're always there whenever I need you,
Somehow appearing out of the blue.

I hope that you know I appreciate your helping hand;
especially these long nights sitting beside you, watching you dream.
As you lay there silently beside me,
With those eyes of yours closed fast asleep
