Leaflets Of Peace - Poem by Michael Pruchnicki

Here they come again
bawling out their slogans
sound-bites directed
by astute politicians
at chombolones
like you and me

we pay our taxes
on time and send
our young men
and women
on demand
to places far
from home
to fight for abstract
nouns like peace
and freedom
laws and constitution

media types who deride
us and our values
because we are prime
chombalones whose
time has come and gone

where we do go to get
our self-respect back,
I ask you?
