Learning To Behave Poem by Richard Wlodarski

Learning To Behave

Rating: 5.0

We fought as kids
And got the strap
Corporal
Punishment
It was legal then
For teachers parents
We learned to behave

In protecting children
By eliminating
Corporal punishment
We've turned some into monsters
And others into victims
We must teach them to behave
Through great love in our hearts

What you say is true — We must teach them to behave / Through great love in our hearts— but, how do we do get some of them to understand this if they are not exposed to it in the home? I don't have an answer for this.

When I was in public school, I remember the strap and one very sadistic teacher. I would not want any child to experience the same thing today.

Some drastic, but positive measures, must be made to get things under control!
