Leaving Poem by Jean Dament

Leaving

You never said that you would be leaving,
Now I'm left alone shedding many tears in this grieving,
My heart is still so broken;
And what lingers on is but a token
Of a true love that we briefly shared;
While your precious smile always let me know how much you cared,
Along with your warm kisses & embraces,
What's left behind are shadow dreams & traces
Of the love gone astray you see;
And I'm left pondering why you didn't stay with me,
Now what remains are grey days like dry ashes
Of everything that ceased to be, as time passes.
