Left Behind Poem by Crystal Maresh

Left Behind

We try to do one thing for someone,
And get left behind.
We do another thing for people
And get left behind again.

Is this how its’ gonna be?
Is this the pattern our life will follow?
We sometimes feel like we’re part of something,
But then everyone starts to leave you behind.

They say that you’re the glue
That holds them together…
But is that really the truth?
Or are they trying to make you feel better.

We the ones left behind,
Have no friend to turn to anymore.
They always ignore us, or never talk.
I guess its’ better this way.

The day we leave or we die,
Maybe it is for the best that we don’t have anyone
That will miss us.
Maybe this way is better.

I guess it’s better to have a very select few as true friend,
Then to have many which just pretend.
Why do we hide behind our façade?
Why do we deal with this everyday.

Is it so bad to want to belong?
To the people we call friends.
I guess we really don’t matter,
When our friends find someone else
In your place.

Why are we the ones left behind?
What did we do to deserve this.
This hell, pain, and loneliness.
I guess that’s life.
