Left Him Crying Poem by Robert Sheridan

Left Him Crying

Set himself up
to be vulnerable
over & over again
kept letting another
woman into his
heart from the
outside – messed him
up big time...
Tried to build
up his defenses
with a suit
of armor – made
from rice paper
then came another
woman dressed as
a black knight...
Jousted and lost
lanced through his
heart didn’t ask
for it – smiled
at, sweet talked
to – at that
point, his life
wasn’t his anymore...
Love once again
was bleeding in
his hands – left
him crying, didn’t
want to be
just friends – another
splinter left in
in his heart...

Ah...another poet like myself who expresses truth and vulnerability...wearing their heart on their sleeve...simply penned with a big impact. Cathy

I like the terse, abrupt style of this interesting piece and some fine metaphors too. In particular 'with a suit of armor – made from rice paper'. Abandonment penned without sentimentality. love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
