Lest It Be Said Poem by Matthew Holloway

Lest It Be Said

Lest it be said our love
Has gone like an extinguished candle
A burning light snuffed away
Alas sweet girl of such beauty
Were it not for such dreams
Of you and I
What tears would there be
What feeling would replace
Those known and felt
What ideas, hopes, aspirations
Would sit in the ledgers
Penned and planned
Thought of as a possibility
The night is dark and cold
The light I fear now may be
Lost for you and me
