Let Me Poem by Samantha Rak

Let Me

Rating: 4.2

My love
You build me up
To my highest high
And then you tear me down
To my very lowest low
Why is it that I keep coming back
Hoping among hope that you'll see
See that she isn't the one
But the one left behind
The one stricken with tears at the very thought of you
Is the one for you
I was there at your highest high
And I was there for your lowest low
I built you up
But I didn't tear you down
I stayed next to you
Holding you up
I wouldn't ever leave you
Had I not promised you so?
But you're walking away
Away from the one who held you while you wept
And smiled while you laughed
Why?
Why do you torture me so? !
Your empty promises once so full
Now rain quietly upon my window
I have closed everything
I'm leaving them so
I can't risk my heart on you again
So please
Let me let go.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
So this one is heart wrenching for me. It's a simple wording but it hits me true. It describes my experience with one person in particular, who is incredibly important to me even though he's off getting married to the one girl I would completely disapprove of for him. Yes I am in love with him, yes we were incredibly close, no we had never gotten together in a sense but we didn't need a relationship status to describe us. I just hope that one day he will see the err of his choices and see me again. I just hope that when that happens its not too late.
So despite being completely dark and moody, I hoped you liked it! If you didn't I'm deeply sorry and I hope a past or future piece that I have written or have yet to write will sway more towards your fancy. If you did like it then I'm completely overjoyed with having accomplished that. Please give me your thoughts! !
Cheers :)
