Let's Still Be Friends Poem by Justin Kulwicki

Let's Still Be Friends

Let’s still be friends
She said as our love’s end drew near
She said “Let’s still be friends.”
We haven’t talked in years

When she stopped calling,
I knew it was the end,
Oddly, that was the time
She got a new boyfriend.

But I’m not sad
I just smile
'cause it all works out
In a little while.

It never really works,
The “Let’s be friends.”
Because in the end,
Someone still hurts.

But I’ll tell you the truth,
Because as far as I’m concerned
She just hurt herself
When my love she spurned.

So let’s still be friends.
The kind that never talk.
Let’s still be friends
And don’t you give me a second thought
