Letting This Go Poem by Summer Sandercox

Letting This Go

i look around this house
and all i see is you.
everything i look at
every object that i touch...
it all reminds me
of you.
walking past your room
i see a small
unmade bed.
i look in the yard
and i see what is now
a motionless red swing.
the place you slept
the place you played
the seat you sat on
they're all empty now.
walking through the door
i was once greeted with
your hugs
your kisses...
now i find myself
greeted with silence.
im still coming to
terms with the fact
that your really gone.
im still hoping this
is a dream.
i have yet to let this go.
so i swallow hard
choke back the tears
because someone
has to be strong
for your mom
your sisters
and your brothers.
even though you were
my friend
my family
my life
i know your gone.
its time for me
to let you go.
i cant hold back anymore
its ok to cry
so rest in peace baby girl
i love you and goodbye
