Liberation Poem by Duncan Stephen

Liberation

Black families taken from home- Africa
Bought and sold like cattle
Families split tears of grief

Worked hard no pay
Brutal treatment, sexual exploitation

Underground railway born
Chance of freedom

Civil war begins
Anti-slavery faction wins
Start of liberation?

Discussions start amendments to statute made

Long road to freedom begins
Liberation in sight maybe
