I loved you when I was both young and free
Your lips dripped honeyed lies with every word
My blind devotion given honestly
Fueled by the sweetest phrases ever heard
I trusted you when I was gulled by innocence.
Seduced by every promise that you gave
And truly duped by every bold pretense
Performed so well by such a cunning knave
So sure that I wholeheartedly believed
You failed to realize that with maturity
I might begin to know I was deceived
And searching further for security
Begin to question promises you swore
Then quit this sham as something I deplore
