Life In Accra Poem by Matt Starking

Life In Accra

Life in Accra, oh what a sight,
Full of lies, corruption and fight.
Backbiting words that never cease,
Envy, hatred, jealousy, the least.

The streets are filled with chaos and noise,
Everyone tries to drown out the voice,
Of the people crying out for change,
But the leaders just find it strange.

They sit in mansions, oblivious to the pain,
On the backs of the people, their wealth they maintain.
Empty promises, political games,
One and all, hungry for money and fame.

In this city, the rich get richer,
While the poor suffer and just linger,
In hope of a better tomorrow,
Filled with less pain and less sorrow.

Life in Accra, it's full of deceit,
A constant battle, a never-ending beat.
But amidst all this chaos and fear,
Hope still shines, it's always near.
